14U Titans Flex Their Muscles at 16U GSA State

Coach Affourtit's 14U Terrell Mill Titans took 3rd place in the 16U GSA State tournament held at Bunten Road / Shorty Howell on June 12th and 13th. Moving up an age division to prepare for the 43 foot distance their pitchers will be required to pitch from this fall in high school, the Titans more than held their own against the older teams. They compiled a 4-3 record over the two days of the tournament (in fact, besting the 2nd place finisher both in record and in head-to-head competition).

After splitting their pool games on Saturday, they camped out in the first base dugout of Field 2 at Shorty Howell park and played five consecutive games over a nine hour period. They fought their way through three international tie-breaker innings, including two in a single game, two hour and five minute victory over the Georgia Pressure. Their third ITB inning came in the following game against Coach Webb's 16U Titans, but the younger Titans once again prevailed.

The 14U Titans were stopped by the first place finishing Milford Showtime, the only team to beat them in bracket play.
